Visakhapatnam District Education Officer N. Prema Kumar said nature workshops could help cultivate an eco-friendly lifestyle among students. Speaking at the National Green Corps District Teachers’ Nature Workshop at Gopalapatnam Boys’ High School on Thursday, he stressed the need to create awareness of environmental conservation through activities and urged educational institutions to grow plants.

Green Climate Team NGO founding secretary J.V. Ratnam urged people to develop social forests using seed balls and trained teachers in making them. He also called for protecting livestock and birds from summer heat by sowing small-grain seeds as feed.

He stressed the need to grow palm groves along coasts, ponds and riverbanks. Teachers were trained to make bags and paper covers from unused materials.
