NEWSROOM - Tim Cook’s tenure at Apple has officially come to an end. Tim Cook, who took over after Steve Jobs’ death, sent a farewell message to all Apple employees on his final day as CEO. Cook, who has led the company for approximately 15 years, thanked Apple employees in his message and emphasized that the employees are the most important factor behind the company’s culture and success.
Cook’s farewell event at Apple took place on August 24. However, he had begun gradually stepping back from his role as CEO following the announcement of his successor in April. With the official handover of his duties to John Ternus, a new era has begun at Apple.
In a message to employees, Cook highlighted his commitment to Apple and its employees. Stating that the successes he achieved as CEO belonged not to him but to the team he worked with, Cook noted that during his years at Apple, he had the opportunity to work with a team that was more successful and special than any he had ever encountered before.
Stating that Apple’s success cannot be measured solely by financial results or annual reports, Cook also touched on the importance of company culture. Noting that Apple is a company that believes people can change the world through their work, Cook said the company bears the responsibility of making the world a better place than it found it.
Cook also referenced Steve Jobs’ phrase“leaving a mark on the universe,” noting that Apple employees, working together, have achieved far greater things than they could have accomplished on their own.
Tim Cook also made a point of emphasizing that he is not leaving Apple. Stating that he will step down from the CEO position but will continue to work at the company, Cook expressed his pleasure at supporting John Ternus in his new role.
Cook is expected to continue playing a role in negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump on behalf of Apple and to continue making statements on behalf of the company regarding social responsibility initiatives, such as disaster relief efforts.
In his message to employees, Cook acknowledged that his tenure at Apple has come to an end while also expressing his confidence in the company’s future. With Cook having completed his term as CEO, John Ternus’s tenure has officially begun.
Both executives are seen as having taken the helm at a critical time for Apple. While Cook was the figure who grew Apple for many years following Steve Jobs, Ternus will be the one to chart Apple’s course during this new era of products and technology.
