New Nissan Tekton compact SUV lands in South Africa – here’s how much it costs - IOL

The new Nissan Tekton has arrived in South Africa.

Now operating as a full importer following the sale of its Rosslyn plant to Chery Auto South Africa, Nissan South Africa will lean more heavily on vehicles sourced from India, and the new Tekton will be a key player in the brand’s new era.

Slotting neatly above its Indian-built counterpart, the popular Magnite, the new Nissan Tekton also draws from the Renault Alliance parts bin, in this case borrowing heavily from the recently introduced Duster model.

Nonetheless, the Tekton has plenty of unique design elements, particularly at the front end, where it takes inspiration from the latest Patrol, which Nissan confirmed is also set for local introduction in the near future.

The Nissan Tekton is available in five derivatives in South Africa.

South African customers get to choose from five model derivatives, starting just shy of the R340,000 mark.

As with its Renault sibling, the Nissan Tekton is offered with a choice of two turbopetrol powertrains. The entry-level model gets a 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit that produces 74kW and 160Nm, paired exclusively with a manual transmission. The rest of the line-up boasts a 1.3-litre four-cylinder unit, offering 120kW and 260Nm, and paired with a dual-clutch gearbox.

Although no four-wheel-drive options exist, the Tekton does offer better-than-average ground clearance of 212mm.

All versions of the Nissan Tekton feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as six airbags, ESP stability control and tyre-pressure monitoring.

The Acenta swaps the Visia model’s 17-inch alloy wheels for 18-inch rims, and also gains a fully digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, rear USB ports, a wireless phone charger, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a multi-view camera and Blind Spot Warning.

The Tekton’s cabin gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The Tekna adds diamond-cut alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, Hill Descent Control, Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control.

All versions are sold with a four-year or 60,000km service plan and a six-year or 150,000km warranty.
