New York Giants shuffle practice squad - Giants Wire
The New York Giants shuffled their practice squad on Tuesday, releasing offensive lineman Kingsley Eguakun and defensive back Elijah Jones while adding defensive lineman C.J. Ravenell and offensive lineman Ryan Schernecke.
Ravenell is a known commodity in the building. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman played 14 games with one start for the Tennessee Titans last season under Dennard Wilson, now New Yorkβs defensive coordinator. He finished that year with six tackles and a forced fumble.
The Giants claimed him off waivers from Tennessee on July 7, then waived him with a non-football injury later that month before camp. The former Missouri Western standout and 2024 undrafted free agent, who spent his rookie year on Baltimoreβs practice squad, returns.
Schernecke, 23, is making a second trip onto the unit. The Kutztown product earned AP All-American second-team honors in 2025 after five seasons and 48 games at the Division II program. New York signed him as an undrafted free agent after the 2026 draft, placed him on the initial practice squad after final cuts, and released him last week to open a spot for cornerback Jaden Robinson. He is back to give the offensive line extra bodies.
Eguakun, a former Florida center, started two games for Detroit last season before brief stops with Cleveland and the Giants. Jones, a New York native and former Cardinals third-round pick out of Boston College, lasted three weeks on the practice squad after signing September 1.
The transactions keep the practice squad at 17 players as the Giants continue to manage depth on both lines early in the season.
