New York Giants sign WR Braxton Berrios to active roster - Giants Wire

The New York Giants did some roster tweaking Tuesday, specifically to the wide receiver room, signing Braxton Berrios to the active roster.

Shortly after releasing veteran Odell Beckham Jr. following a reunion that lasted just three games, the Giants used that extra roster spot to promote the 30-year-old Berrios.

Spending the first three weeks of the season on the practice squad, Berrios was a standard gameday elevation for all three matchups to begin the campaign. NFL rules state that a player can be elevated a maximum of three times during the regular season.

In order to be active on game days, the Giants needed to sign Berrios to the 53-man roster.

The Miami product has yet to record a receiving stat this season . He has played 22 snaps on offense (12%) and 21 snaps on special teams (32%) through the first three games. He's returned two punts for 12 yards and five kicks for 138 yards.

Berrios is expected to keep his role as the return man while seeing minimal work on the offensive side of the ball.
