New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys Week 1 inactives: Malik Nabers will play - Giants Wire
Malik Nabers will be active for the New York Giants in Week 1 on Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys after going through an early warm-up at MetLife Stadium and informing the team he was ready to play.
Nabers practiced in full for three straight days this week while returning from a torn ACL and meniscus suffered in Week 4 last season against the Los Angeles Chargers. Head coach John Harbaugh said on Wednesday he believed the receiver was prepared.
“I think he’s ready to go,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll see. It’s still four days until we play. If he’s ready to go and he feels like he’s ready to go, he’ll play.”
The Giants left the final decision with Nabers. He declined to commit during the week and said the choice would come from a higher place.
“I’ll let God tell me. I’ll let God tell me, keeping my faith, and he’ll let me know and I’ll know when it’s time,” Nabers said. “I’ve been asking him a long time. We’ve got a plan. He’s got the plan. I’m just following in his footsteps that he wants me to take and lead me in the right direction.”
New York listed him as questionable and waited until after the pregame warm-up to make it official. The last-minute clearance gives quarterback Jaxson Dart his top target for the start of the Harbaugh era.
