NFL analyst reveals harsh truth about Dolphins so far in 2026
The Miami Dolphins have far from the best roster in the league. In fact, if you polled most NFL fans, they'd finish near the bottom, and through two weeks, they've been proven right.
So far this year, the Dolphins have been outscored 62-26 while averaging the sixth-fewest yards per game (271.5) and the 14th-most yards allowed per game (336.0).
After this latest loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium, CBS Sports' Pete Prisco put what it's like to play the Dolphins bluntly, but he also shared that he believes in what they're doing.
"(The 49ers) had a bye week this week. Let's be real. I mean, the Miami Dolphins are not very good. They're not," Prisco said on CBS Sports HQ this week. "I live here, and you know what? If you went in there and you told them that you're not very good They'd probably agree with you because they're not very good. But the bottom line is that's okay because you're building to something You're the Miami Dolphins You're gonna have days like this this year probably a lot of days like this.
"But you're playing a lot of young guys and that's the most important thing play your young guys Let them get experience let them learn and then next year when you get your quarterback, you come back and you start building this thing around that guy. I'm all for the way they're doing it, but you're gonna have a lot of days like this. You just got to be able to handle it"
Miami has one of the youngest rosters in the NFL in 2026 after moving on from several older veterans this year, including Darren Waller (34), Tyreek Hill (32), Bradley Chubb (30) and Minkah Fitzpatrick (29).
They also took 13 players in the 2026 NFL Draft, signed undrafted fullback DJ Herman and claimed Justin Joly (Denver's fifth-round pick) off waivers. That's a large group of players who just need to get game sneps at the professional level.
While Miami may be building to something in the future, for now, other teams probably do see them as a bye week, even if they don't admit it.
