Nicki Minaj has 'absolutely nothing' to say to Trump critics - USA Today
Nicki Minaj won't be silenced when it comes to President Donald Trump.
During a Sept. 18 appearance on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle," the rap superstar made it clear that she had "absolutely nothing" to say to those who have criticized her staunch support of Trump.
"I am honored to be able to have an opportunity to work with this administration and to work with President Trump," Minaj told host Laura Ingraham. "He has inspired many people, not just me, and he's fun. He's not just smart and he's just not the president, but he's also just someone that I can relate to."
In the many months since Minaj, born Onika Tanya Maraj, first publicly lauded Trump for his stance on the "existential threat" facing Christianity in Nigeria, the Trinidad-born emcee has worked closely with the president and other top Republican officials and attended various high-profile events.
Minaj, who once referred to herself as "probably the president's No. 1 fan," recently partnered with the Small Business Administration on "The Million-Dollar Pitch Competition," a White House Freedom 250 initiative designed to celebrate "American entrepreneurship," on Sept. 18.
Minaj continued: "Someone that, every time I see him, or every time I see him speaking to other people, he's just himself. He's very, he's very grounded. It's easy to connect with him. It's easy to feel like he heard you, he understands you."
The "Super Bass" rapper said she's "not going to ever make excuses" for loving Trump, adding that she doesn't know why she should.
Minaj has made other pro-Trump remarks in recent months, telling Time magazine that "many celebrities feel the way I do [about Trump], but they don't say it. Sometimes, you just need one brave person to get the brunt of the impact. I think I am the catalyst for that change."
She added: "Hopefully, when they see me and hear me speak and feel my energy, that will make them say, 'You know what: Who am I afraid of? What am I afraid of?'"
Minaj may be in her "businesswoman era," but she knows what she won't be doing the next time she performs onstage.
"And no, I will not be onstage lecturing anyone," Minaj said. "I will be onstage trying to have fun and remind people how blessed we are to live in this country and to remind people how blessed we are to wake up healthy and in our right minds every day and how much we take for granted."
Minaj revealed that she plans on hitting the road just as soon as "present[s] the Barbz with this next body of work, whenever that will be."
Minaj reportedly teased her sixth studio album in a cryptic X post last September but has yet to provide any updates. It would mark her first major release since "Pink Friday 2."
She added: "I love performing because that's like the only time when all of us are on this big place and we don't have a care in the world. We're making memories and we'll never forget those memories. And Barbz, I love you very much, if you're watching."
