Nigerian Breweries launches campaign to mark 80th anniversary - Punch Newspapers
Nigerian Breweries Plc has commenced activities to mark its 80th anniversary with a nationwide campaign inviting Nigerians to share photographs, videos and memories connected to the company, its brands, people, investments and wider impact. Under the anniversary campaign, “Together, Every Moment,” the company is asking Nigerians at home and abroad to search their photo albums, family archives, camera rolls and personal memories for moments that show how Nigerian Breweries has featured in their lives, businesses and communities over the past eight decades. Since its incorporation in 1946, the company said in a statement on Sunday that its growth has been intertwined with that of Nigeria, with its activities extending across homes, businesses, communities and cultural experiences. It said its journey had also involved farmers, distributors, retailers, suppliers, entrepreneurs, transporters, employees and host communities whose livelihoods have grown alongside the company over the decades. The campaign, known as the National Story Collection, seeks photographs and videos documenting these connections, with the submissions expected to form an archive of moments, people, businesses, livelihoods and experiences associated with Nigerian Breweries over 80 years.See more Punch stories on Google.Add Punch on Google Speaking on the campaign, Managing Director/CEO of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Thibaut Boidin, said the anniversary should focus on the people and moments that shaped the company’s history. “An 80th anniversary can easily become a company talking about itself. That would miss the point. Long before our history was captured in corporate archives, it was being lived in Nigerian homes, businesses and communities. “For 80 years, Nigerians have welcomed our brands into their celebrations, friendships, traditions, businesses and everyday lives. Farmers, entrepreneurs, retailers, distributors, suppliers, employees and communities have all played a role in shaping our journey. They have given meaning to our history. We want to see the photographs, videos and memories that tell the story from their perspective – not simply ours. Because after 80 years, the most meaningful way to celebrate our history is to celebrate the people and moments that made it. “From the submissions received, 80 memories will be selected, with each winner receiving 1 million naira, alongside other prizes. Selected stories will also be featured across the NB@80 campaign, including films, editorial features, social media, outdoor displays, anniversary experiences and the company’s commemorative archive.” Participation is free, with Nigerians invited to upload their memories through the company’s website or share them on social media using #NB@80 and tagging @nigerianbreweriesplc. Beyond the National Story Collection, Nigerian Breweries said it would run a wider anniversary programme featuring consumer participation, films, media storytelling, cultural experiences and commemorative events. The activities will focus on the people and shared moments that have shaped the company’s 80-year journey.
