NIT Warangal Director Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi and MOHSoft Tech Private Limited CEO and Co-Founder Subha Chaganty exchanging MoU documents on the NIT Warangal campus on Thursday.
The National Institute of Technology - Warangal (NIT-W), on Thursday, signed a technology transfer agreement with MOHSoft Tech Private Limited to commercialise an indigenous ozone-based disinfection technology developed by researchers in its Department of Physics.
The agreement aims to facilitate large-scale manufacturing and deployment of ozone-based disinfection systems for use in healthcare facilities, public institutions, food-processing units, public transport and industrial establishments.
According to the institute, the technology uses the oxidising properties of ozone to eliminate up to 99.9% of viruses, bacteria and other pathogens under specified operating conditions. Unlike conventional chemical disinfectants, ozone decomposes into oxygen after use, reducing concerns over chemical residues.
Under the agreement, MOHSoft Tech will have the rights to manufacture, scale up and market the technology in domestic and international markets. Both organisations will also collaborate on further research and development to create automated and commercially viable disinfection systems.
NIT Warangal Director Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi said the collaboration would help translate research outcomes into practical solutions and facilitate wider adoption of the indigenously developed technology. The inventors, Prof. D. Harnath and Prof. R. Rakesh of the Department of Physics, said the technology was developed through research aimed at harnessing ozone’s properties to provide an effective and sustainable disinfection solution.
MOHSoft Tech CEO and Co-Founder Subha Chaganty said the company would combine the institute’s research expertise with its engineering capabilities to develop accessible disinfection solutions for different sectors. The company’s Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder Shyam Mamidi, an alumnus of NIT Warangal, said commercial production of the first batch of industrial ozone disinfection systems was expected to begin early next year, followed by pilot deployments.
