The African National Congress (ANC) has said that it will block attempts by political parties seeking to win wards and councils “through the backdoor” over its candidate list debacle that has led to it being excluded from contesting six municipalities in the upcoming polls.

The party will square off with the Electoral Commission in court next week over whether by uploading the names of candidates to its system, it can be considered as a final submission list to contest a municipality.
