TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian idol group no na dropped a nearly 15-minute music video titled "speaker freaker (the long song)" on National Radio Day, September 11, setting the stage for their debut album, island girl, set to drop on September 18.

The video weaves in traditional Indonesian elements, from the clinking of ceng-ceng cymbals in "work" and gamelan motifs in "rollerblade" to the familiar honk of city minibuses in "honk!," capturing the distinct world no na builds throughout "speaker freaker (the long song)."

"Indonesian culture has always been at the heart of no na's identity, aligning with the group's name, which is inspired from the word nona, meaning young woman," the four-member group, comprising Baila, Shaz, Christy, and Esther, stated in a press release issued by 88rising in Jakarta on Friday.

Shot across several iconic Indonesian locations, including Jakarta and Yogyakarta, the video features eight tracks: "rollerblade" alongside seven unreleased songs: "dizzy," "island girl," "seafood diet," "speaker freaker," "smooth," "party in the +62," and "better on the island."

Through the music video, no na offers a fresh personal lens on Indonesia's natural landscapes, vibrant urban pulse, and rich cultural heritage.

With their upcoming debut record, no na unveils a signature sound they dub "Island Pop."

The genre fuses the tropical essence of their homeland with a mosaic of global influences, spanning 1980s R&B, local dangdut, new jack swing, and synth-funk.

Across 15 tracks, the upcoming album dives into themes of romance, femininity, and sisterhood, radiating confidence and poise on the threshold of adulthood. The album features the following 15 tracks: "star," "seafood diet," "smooth," "island girl," "rollerblade," "rollerblade part two," "work," "honk!," "dizzy," "chaser," "party in the +62," "speaker freaker," "nick of time," "durian," and "better on the island."

The debut album, island girl, portrays a persona that is cheerful, expressive, and bold yet sincere, while celebrating youth, friendship, and romance.

That identity carries over into the album artwork, where each member adopts a distinct traditional Indonesian hand gesture, weaving their individual styles into a shared reference.
