‘No one is above the law’: AfriForum after NPA grants request to prosecute Mbalula - EWN

Lobby group AfriForum said it wants to prove that no one is above the law after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) granted its request to prosecute African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Fikile Mbalula.

The NPA has confirmed that Mbalula will face prosecution for accusing Bergview College principal Jaco Pieterse of raping a child.

In 2024, Pieterse was accused of raping a seven-year-old by the child’s mother, but the NPA declined to prosecute him over insufficient evidence.

AfriForum is now targeting Mbalula, alleging that he falsely accused the principal of rape despite investigators finding no conclusive evidence to support the allegation.

Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions Andrew Chauke has agreed to AfriForum’s request to prosecute Mbalula.
