The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have pledged to strengthen intelligence sharing and operational collaboration to combat economic and financial crimes and other criminal activities in Gombe State.
The commitment was made when the NSCDC State Commandant, Mohammad Usman, led a delegation of senior management officers on a familiarisation visit to the EFCC Gombe Zonal Directorate.
In a statement signed on Thursday by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, CSC Buhari Sa’ad, with copies shared with Arewa PUNCH, the commandant said the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between the two agencies and exploring areas of collaboration to improve security and service delivery.
Usman identified intelligence and information sharing, joint operations and capacity building as critical areas requiring stronger cooperation among security and law enforcement agencies.
He stated, “Inter-agency collaboration remains essential to winning the fight against economic and financial crimes and other forms of criminality confronting the country.”
Responding, the Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC, ACE I A.S.M. Adache, welcomed the delegation, describing the two agencies as partners united by the responsibility to combat crime.
“We are partners and will continue to partner,” Adache said.
He assured the NSCDC commandant of the commission’s readiness to work with relevant security and law enforcement agencies, particularly through intelligence sharing and operational support.
“The EFCC is always ready and duty-bound to synergise with all relevant law enforcement and security agencies to fight crime through synergy, information, intelligence and operational support,” he said.
Adache also urged the NSCDC to maintain professionalism, fairness and firmness in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities.
Our correspondent reports that the visit featured an interactive session and exchange of ideas on strategies to deepen institutional cooperation and strengthen the agencies’ collective response to criminal activities in the state.
