MANILA, Philippines — The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on Thursday directed the mobilization of all its regional offices nationwide to coordinate with relevant government agencies and key private sector stakeholders in support of public assistance operations for the country’s upcoming observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, or Undas 2026, from October 31 to November 2, 2026.

NTC Commissioner Atty. Ella Blanca Lopez stressed the importance of inter-agency cooperation and availability of effective communication in helping ensure public safety and provide timely assistance to Filipinos visiting cemeteries, memorial parks, and other places to honor their departed loved ones.

Under the issued Memorandum, all NTC regional directors are tasked to coordinate with local government units, law enforcement agencies, disaster risk reduction and management offices, emergency response units, and other concerned authorities in their respective areas to support public assistance and safety initiatives.

The regional offices are also instructed to monitor the activities of Civic Action Groups (CAGs) and Amateur Radio Groups (ARGs) operating within their respective jurisdictions by keeping track of their assigned routes, location of personnel and assistance posts, and sites of their radio base stations throughout the duration of their respective Undas public service operations.

The NTC will likewise closely coordinate with telecommunications service providers, as may be necessary, to resolve reported service concerns and help maintain reliable telecommunications services, particularly in areas expected to experience increased public activity and mobile network traffic.

The agency also reminds the public to follow safety advisories, note local emergency numbers, keep mobile phones fully charged, always maintain contact with family members and use available communication channels responsibly, especially when seeking emergency assistance. (Contributed story)
