43-year-old Nthabiseng Tshivhenga holds several qualifications in municipal governance. She was born and raised in Ekurhuleni, and became a PR Councillor in 2016. She served as the Ekurhuleni Speaker, and briefly as Member of the Gauteng Legislature.
Tshivhenga promises to bring over 16 years of experience in public administration to establish βaccountable leadershipβ.
After boosting basic service delivery, Tshivhenga plans to effect insourcing, formalise informal settlements, revive industrial zones and pull the plug on criminal infiltration.
During her tenure as Speaker last year, Tshivhenga was accused of receiving kickbacks from service providers for government contracts. She survived two motions of no-confidence before her sudden resignation in December.
