Official inspects Akhanda Godavari project works in Rajamahendravaram

Special Chief Secretary to the Government for Youth Advancement, Tourism, and Culture S.S. Rawat, on Sunday (September 27, 2026), inspected the ongoing works of the ₹94.44 crore Akhanda Godavari project in Rajamahendravaram city.

The Ministry of Culture has released ₹99.44 crore for the Akhanda Godavari project under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment. The project, including the beautification of the Havelock Bridge across the Godavari and the development of Bridge Lanka (an island), aims to be commissioned before Godavari Pushkarams 2027.

As many as 18 spans, out of the 57 spans of the Havelock Bridge, are being developed with a glass bridge, a rail museum, a food court, and an aquarium tunnel.

East Godavari District Collector Kirthi Chekuri and Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rahul Meena stated that Bridge Lanka would be developed into a tourist attraction with facilities such as boating, yoga centre, wellness centre. A.P. Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director P. Ravi Subhash and other officials were present.
