Ogi Redzic Is one of TIME's 2026 Executives of the Year: Tech and Data - Time Magazine

When Ogi Redzic joined Caterpillar Inc. as chief digital officer in 2018, the words he associated with the equipment manufacturer were “heavy iron,” “durable,” and “sturdy.” Today, he uses the terms “e-commerce,” “service provider,” and, most of all, “technology forward.”

Caterpillar has rebuilt itself around data to address customers’ labor, productivity, and safety issues. The company’s Helios platform processes 700 billion records a month. Using that information, the system can determine if a 600-ton mining truck located in Canada is beginning to have issues with a pump, which could lead to a catastrophic engine failure if not addressed. In January 2026, Caterpillar unveiled its Cat AI Assistant, a “proactive partner” that leverages Helios data to answer questions from fleet managers and suggested needed service. 

Redzic is a big reader of military history; he’s especially drawn to how the 19th-century Prussians led units when no one had the full picture of what was happening. "You never have enough information,” says Redzic. As someone whose job relies on data, he understands better than most.
