Ojodu LCDA disowns report on alleged assault involving chairman - The Guardian Nigeria News

The Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has dissociated itself from a report concerning an alleged assault and intimidation involving its Executive Chairman, Segun David Odunmbaku, describing the matter as a private family dispute.   The Council, in a statement issued by its Media/Publicity Office, said the report published by The Guardian on September 4, 2026, titled “Man accuses Ojodu LCDA chairman of assault, intimidation,” had no connection with the official functions, administration or activities of the council.   According to the council, the complainant, Samson Odunmbaku, is a relative of the chairman, and the matter was therefore a personal family dispute rather than an issue involving the local government administration.

“The Council wishes to state categorically that the matter referenced in the report is a private family dispute and has no connection whatsoever with the official functions, administration or activities of Ojodu LCDA,” the statement reads.

The council also described the allegations contained in the publication as unsubstantiated, urging the media and members of the public not to present them as established facts.   It called on media practitioners and the public to exercise due diligence in reporting the matter and allow the appropriate legal channels to resolve the dispute.

“The allegations contained in the publication remain unsubstantiated allegations and should not be presented as established facts,” it said.

The council maintained that the chairman remained focused on his statutory responsibilities and the delivery of development and public services to residents of Ojodu LCDA.   It reaffirmed its commitment to responsible governance, peace and the protection of the integrity of the council and its officials.
