Amr bin Mustafa Alwan, who hid his library—consisting of religious and philosophical works—behind a wall he built after the Bashar al-Assad regime banned numerous books during the civil war in Syria, was reunited with his library approximately 15 years later.

Returning to his home in Homs—which he had abandoned in late 2011—Alwan used a hammer to break through the wall he had built, revealing his library once again. It was evident that the works in the library had remained in good condition, having suffered no damage despite the passing years.

Alwan said, “I built this wall in the 10th month of 2011. I returned 15 years later, and thank God, everything is still in its place—these are the certificates of Quran memorization.”In addition to numerous religious works on hadith, fiqh, and tafsir, the library contains copies of the Holy Quran, certificates of Quranic memorization, as well as *Tehzîbü’t-Tehzîb*, Tehzîbü’l-Kemâl, the Tabari Commentary, the Commentary on Sahih al-Bukhari, Siyer al-Nabi, the Grammar of the Holy Quran, and Jami’ al-Usul.
