One Sun One Moon: Rajinikanth gets a starry tribute in Jailer 2 new song
Superstar Rajinikanth gets his latest big-screen tribute in Jailer 2 with One Sun One Moon, the second song from Nelson’s much-awaited sequel. Released by Sun Pictures on Friday, the melodic track leans into the superstar’s larger-than-life image while offering a fresh glimpse of him in the film.
The song is less about setting up the story and more about celebrating the man at its centre. Anirudh, who has composed the music, also lends his voice to the track alongside MS Krsna. Heisenberg and Super Subu have penned the lyrics.
One line in particular leaves little doubt about what the song is celebrating: “Innaikkum Ennennaikkum, Oru Thalaivan Dhaan.” The sentiment fits neatly into the song’s larger tribute to Rajinikanth and his enduring screen presence.
The video also gives fans more footage of Rajinikanth’s character, adding to the curiosity around what Nelson has planned for Muthuvel Pandian this time around.
Jailer 2 brings back several familiar faces from the 2023 blockbuster, including Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Shivarajkumar, Yogi Babu, Jaffer Sadiq and Vinayakan. Mohanlal is also expected to return in his role from Jailer, although the makers are yet to officially confirm his appearance.
The sequel, however, is expanding the franchise well beyond its original cast. SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Vijay Sethupathi, Anna Rajan, Hakkim Shah, Bagavathi Perumal, Meghana Raj, Shamna Kasim and Jatin Sarna have joined the film.
There have also been reports of Shah Rukh Khan, Mithun Chakraborty and Hrithik Roshan being part of Jailer 2, though those casting reports remain unconfirmed.
Behind the camera, Nelson has retained much of the team that worked on the first film. Anirudh returns as composer, while R Nirmal handles editing and Vijay Kartik Kannan serves as cinematographer. DRK Kiran is the art director, with Pallavi Singh and Muthul Hafeez returning as costume designers. Stunt choreographer Chethan D'Souza is the new addition to the technical crew.
