OnePlus 16 full specifications leak ahead of launch, 9,000mAh battery and 200MP camera tipped

OnePlus is gearing up to launch its next flagship – the OnePlus 16 – in China. The Chinese company has already started teasing the device online, revealing a few details. But rumour mills have gone a step further and revealed almost the full specifications of the upcoming device, including the camera, chipset, battery, and more, giving a clear picture of what the OnePlus 16 may offer.

First things first, OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 16 will be the brand’s first device to run on ColourOS 17. And next, it will support a 165Hz refresh rate. Its predecessor, the OnePlus 15, also shipped with a 165Hz display, but it was mostly locked for gaming, and the rest of general activities were capped at 120Hz. Tipster Digital Chat Station revealed on Weibo that the OnePlus 16 will feature a BOE X4 display with a 165Hz refresh rate for regular use and up to 185Hz for gaming.

The phone is tipped to pack a massive 9,000mAh battery, with a rated capacity of 8,780mAh. It could support 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, with a dual-cell battery setup.

On the camera front, the OnePlus 16 is said to feature a 200-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, alongside a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.95-inch sensor.

For performance, the handset could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, reportedly built on TSMC’s 2nm process. It is tipped to feature an octa-core CPU with a 2+3+3 core arrangement and an Adreno 850 GPU.

Design-wise, earlier leaks suggest that the OnePlus 16 could feature thinner bezels than its predecessor, the OnePlus 15, giving the phone a more immersive display experience. However, OnePlus has yet to officially reveal any details about the device’s design or launch timeline.

While the company remains tight-lipped about the launch, rumours suggest that the OnePlus 16 could make its debut in China in October 2026, followed by a global rollout in November.
