Over 62% work completed on Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, all land acquired
The Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train project has achieved 62.16% overall physical progress, with more than 366 km of viaduct girders erected so far, according to a reply from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
The 508-km corridor will connect Mumbai with Ahmedabad through Gujarat, Maharashtra and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. NHSRCL said all the land required for the project has now been acquired.

NHSRCL said 1,389.49 hectares required for the corridor have been acquired. This includes 959.04 hectares in Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and 430.45 hectares in Maharashtra.
Foundation work has been completed along 459.90 km, while piers have been completed along 455.10 km of the route. Girders have been cast for around 380 km and erected along 366 km of viaduct.
At all stations in Gujarat, foundation and superstructure work has been completed, with finishing work now under way. Station construction is continuing in Maharashtra.TUNNEL AND DEPOT WORK UNDER WAY
The project includes a 21-km tunnel, including a seven-kilometre section under the sea. NHSRCL said tunnel boring machine work is currently under way.
Another 4.88 km of tunnel constructed using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method has been completed. Excavation has also broken through at four of the eight mountain tunnels.
Work at the Sabarmati depot is 32.28% complete, while the Thane depot has recorded 17.23% progress.

Chennai's Integral Coach Factory has awarded BEML an order to design, manufacture and commission two high-speed trainsets for the corridor. NHSRCL said construction of the first trainset has begun.
Asked about the project's completion timeline, NHSRCL said the anticipated date can be determined only after all contract packages are awarded and trainsets are supplied.
