Packers to face backup QB in Week 4? Bucs' Baker Mayfield hurts thumb vs. Vikings - Packers Wire

The Green Bay Packers look destined to face a backup quarterback next Sunday in Tampa Bay. Buccaneers starting quarterback Baker Mayfield dislocated the thumb on his throwing hand late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings and will have an MRI on the injury on Monday, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Rapoport says Mayfield is "likely to miss time." The Packers and Buccaneers will face off next Sunday in Week 4 action from Raymond James Stadium.

The backup in Tampa Bay is undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels, who threw an interception on the Bucs' final drive of the game and finished 0-for-3 passing on Sunday. The 23-year-old beat out Jake Browning for the No. 2 quarterback job in training camp.

It's possible the Packers will face backup quarterbacks during each of the next two weeks. Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has a Grade 2 hamstring injury and could miss at least three weeks, and the Packers host the Bears in exactly two weeks.

Regardless of who is playing quarterback for the Bucs next Sunday, the Packers -- who are 1-2 and coming off a 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons at Lambeau Field -- need to leave Tampa Bay with a win in Week 4.
