A 30-year-old painter from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly stabbed to death by a carpenter following a quarrel over cooking at a newly constructed house in Kenchenahalli, in the limits of the Rajarajeshwari Nagar Police Station, on Sunday.
The victim has been identified as Amit Kumar, a native of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. The accused, Sunil Kumar, also from Uttar Pradesh, was working as a carpenter at the same construction site.
According to the police, four workers, three carpenters and a painter, were staying and working at the under-construction house. Sunil, who was allegedly drunk, picked a quarrel with Amit over cooking and abused him during the argument.
The quarrel escalated when Amit allegedly hit Sunil. In retaliation, Sunil allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Amit.
Amit suffered heavy blood loss and died from the stab injury. The Rajarajeshwari Nagar police rushed to the spot, conducted an inspection and arrested Sunil. Further investigation is under way.
