Pakistan hits 10 Afghan locations in response to recent drone intrusion by Taliban regime: minister

Pakistan conducted precision aerial and drone strikes on 10 locations in Afghanistan in response to recent attempted drone attacks launched by the Taliban regime earlier this week, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said in the early hours of Thursday.

“In exercise of its sovereign right to self-defence, Pakistan conducted precision aerial and drone strikes against 10 locations in Afghanistan used for launching and storing these drones,” the minister wrote on his official X handle. 

The development comes a day after Pakistan shot down eight drones after they entered the country's airspace from Afghanistan, security sources said.

The sources said the armed forces' air defence system detected all eight drones in time and intercepted them, foiling the attempted intrusion.

Four drones were brought down in areas adjacent to the Torkham border, while the remaining four were shot down in mountainous areas near Kohat.

In the statement today, Tarar said the strikes were "deliberate, precise, calibrated and proportionate and strictly limited to identified military objectives directly linked to the attempted attacks against Pakistan".
