Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, general manager of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport, stated that the disrupted services comprised four arrivals and four departures after visibility plunged to 600 meters.

The affected incoming flights included QG 980 from Jakarta, which was forced to return to base (RTB), alongside IU 933 from Yogyakarta, IU 924 from Jakarta, and GA 102 from Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the four delayed outbound flights were QG 981, IU 964, IU 871, and GA 107, all bound for Jakarta from Palembang.

"These delays are due to visibility below minimal or visibility below the minimal flight standards," he said in a statement in Palembang on Saturday, October 3, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport continues to monitor weather conditions around the area. Officials maintain coordination to ensure flight safety remains the top priority while visibility fails to meet operational standards. Airport management also advised passengers to monitor the latest schedule updates directly through their respective airlines.
