Panel to review Hina Javed murder probe

The Punjab government has constituted a high-powered committee to review the investigation into the Hina Javed murder case. The three-member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Additional Inspector General of the Crime Control Department (CCD) Sohail Zafar Chattha. After the forensic reports were received, the threads of the crime have reportedly begun pointing towards the domestic employee, according to sources. Sources said the reports contained sensational revelations. According to sources, the new high-powered committee was constituted on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The committee will be headed by CCD chief Sohail Zafar Chattha and includes DIG Lahore Shoaib Khurram Janbaz and SSP Investigation Rawalpindi Saifullah. Sources said the high-powered committee would visit Rawalpindi this week, where it would inspect the crime scene and review the investigation conducted so far. Meanwhile, Rawalpindi police have received the forensic sample reports in the Hina Javed murder case, including the final post-mortem report. According to sources, the committee constituted by the Punjab chief minister has also contacted the family of the deceased Hina Javed. Hina Javed was murdered at her home in Rawalpindi on August 21, while a case was registered at the Civil Lines police station. The deceased's husband Faisal Asghar and domestic employee Zeeshan Arshad, who were nominated in the case, are currently on judicial remand at Adiala Jail. It may be recalled that Rawalpindi CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera had already constituted a special investigation team to probe the high-profile case. However, Hina Javed's family had expressed reservations about the Rawalpindi police investigation and also written letters to the Parliamentary Caucus Committee and the National Commission for Human Rights.
