Patna Police reacts to video of man spitting on vendor, flipping tray on his head
In what appeared to be a shocking display of cruelty, a man was seen harassing a street vendor and overturning his entire tray of snacks outside Patna Junction in Bihar. A video of the now-viral incident, which many claimed was staged, triggered responses from the Bihar Police and Patna Police.
The short clip showed the man taking some snacks from the vendor’s tray, eating it and then spitting them at him. He then overturned the entire tray onto the vendor.
The vendor, who was carrying the tray suspended from a string around his neck, appeared stunned and did not retaliate as his snacks were scattered on the road. The incident left him without the stock he relied on for his livelihood.
The video has been widely shared by social media users who have urged authorities to intervene immediately.
One of the users shared the video and urged the police to arrest the man. “Send this thug, who flaunts his masculinity by exploiting the helplessness of the poor, behind bars immediately,” the user wrote.
The user highlighted that the vendor sold chickpeas and puffed rice outside Patna Junction and urged Patna Police and Bihar Police to take immediate cognisance of the incident, identify the man and ensure compensation for the vendor.
Bihar Police responded to another X user who had shared the video and tagged Patna Police, saying, “Please forward for information and necessary action.”
Patna Police responded soon after, saying, “The notice has been forwarded to the concerned officer.”
