Patriots' Dre’Mont Jones laid foundation for big year, even in defeat - Patriots Wire

New England Patriots edge rusher Dre’Mont Jones emerged as a steady source of pressure in the team’s 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday, repeatedly causing disruption in the pocket and giving New England’s pass rush an edge on the game.

According to Pro Football Focus, Jones took 23 pass-rush snaps and generated seven pressures, with a pressure rate of 30.4 percent. He also registered a sack, converting one of his relentless attempts into a drive-stalling tackle against Seattle.

Jones’ impact extended beyond that. He was able to get into the pocket and reduce the time available for Seahawks receivers to separate downfield. His ability to create quick interior pressure forced Seattle’s protection to react and made the offense less comfortable operating from the pocket.

Jones’ performance also helped support the Patriots’ secondary on the game. As the Patriots’ new starting edge rusher, much is expected of Jones for the 2026 NFL season. He got off on the right foot in his first game with New England and, despite the loss, set the tone for himself individually for the year.

The outing highlighted Jones’ abilities, and serves as an early indicator that this year may be a breakout year for him.
