The Philippines will host two WTA tournaments in 2027 — the Philippine Women’s Open (WTA 125) in January and an additional WTA 250 event in November as part of the Asian swing.

The Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA) confirmed the development on Thursday.

“We’re happy to announce and confirm that late last night, we threshed out some details with our franchise holder of the WTA 250. We’re going to have a WTA 250 next year, 2027, in late October or early November,” PHILTA secretary general John Rey Tiangco said.

Earlier this year, the inaugural WTA 125 Philippine Women’s Open was held, with Camila Osorio winning the title.

Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala also competed in the tournament but exited in the quarterfinals.

According to PHILTA, the WTA approved the Philippines’ hosting application just last week, following Eala’s recent international success.

Eala, meanwhile, is set to face China’s Xiyu Wang in the semifinals of the Asian Games.
