Pick n Pay announces Woolworths exec to succeed Sean Summers as CEO - EWN

Pick n Pay has appointed Spencer Sonn, Woolworths' Chief Customer Officer, as CEO-designate.

The appointment is effective from 1 February 2027 and Sonn will take over as CEO from Sean Summers in May 2028.

The group said he would work closely with Summers, who was re-appointed CEO in late 2023 as part of the retailer's turnaround strategy.

The succession plan is "part of a planned and orderly leadership transition that will support continuity and the continued execution of the Group's strategy", Pick n Pay said in a Sens statement.

It cited Sonn's retail leadership experience of more than 30 years across South Africa and New Zealand.
