Pinakini Satyagraha Ashram to honour kin of freedom fighters on Gandhi Jayanti

The Pinakini Satyagraha Ashram is all set for Gandhi Jayanti celebrations with a series of programmes aimed at commemorating the sacrifices of freedom fighters and reconnecting the younger generation with Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence and Satyagraha.

The celebrations will be organised at Pinakini Satyagraha Ashram in Pallepadu village of Indukurpet mandal in the district on October 2 from 9 a.m.

A major highlight of the programme will be the unveiling of plaques bearing the names of freedom fighters from the erstwhile Nellore district who participated in the freedom movement and underwent imprisonment at different stages of the struggle. Family members of the freedom fighters will be felicitated during the celebrations.

The initiative is intended to preserve the memory of the district’s freedom fighters and ensure that their contribution is remembered by future generations.

A free medical and dental camp will be conducted under the aegis of the Indian Red Cross Society, offering medical services and dental checkups to members of the public.

Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy will attend the celebrations as chief guests. Avanigadda MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad, and MLC from Telangana State Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chari are among the distinguished guests.

Ashram coordinator Pandipati Janardhan Reddy said the programme intends to provide an opportunity for the present generation to understand the relevance of Gandhi’s principles and remember the sacrifices of those who took part in the freedom struggle.
