The police have launched an investigation into the alleged assault on a Class 12 Government school student, belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, by students belonging to another community in the school premises on Saturday (September 19, 2026).
The incident followed an argument between students belonging to different communities at the school in Brahmakundam village near Sankarapuram. In the ensuing clash, A. Sandeep, a Class 12 student and a resident of the same village, sustained injuries and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, parents and local residents staged a protest in front of the school, demanding the immediate arrest of eight students involved in the attack and action against teachers who, they claimed, failed to intervene.
“Police have been deployed in strength at the school following the incident. Further investigations are underway.”
