Political parties agree that police procurement system must be strengthened - EWN
Political parties are in full agreement that the police’s procurement systems must be strengthened to prevent the kind of political interference shown by police minister on special leave Senzo Mchunu.
The EFF made the recommendation as the Ad Hoc Committee on police corruption continued its deliberations on its draft report this evening.
Committee members said that they agree that mchunu’s directive to disband the Political Killings Task Team was irrational on most points and future decisions that disrupt policing must be prevented.
Committee Chairperson Soviet Lekganyane, "The EFF submitted that the directive of the 31st December was irrational and that legislative and policy safeguards should be introduced to prevent future executive decisions that affect (police operations)."
