Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, Vivek Venkataswamy, Adluri Laxman Kumar, Ponnam Prabhakar and others during the presentation of Ponnam Sattaiah Lifetime Achievement Awards–2026 at Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Ponnam Sattaiah Lifetime Achievement Awards–2026 were presented to M. Kodanda Reddy, Velichala Kondal Rao and Gotte Kanakavva for their contributions to agriculture, literature and folk arts respectively at Ravindra Bharati on Sunday. The event was organised to mark the 16th death anniversary of farmer and social worker Ponnam Sattaiah Goud.

The awards were instituted by Ponnam Sattaiah Charitable Trust in association with the Telangana Department of Language and Culture. Each awardee was presented a memento and a cash prize of ₹50,000.

Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, Vivek Venkataswamy, Adluri Laxman Kumar and Ponnam Prabhakar presented the awards.

Speaking on the occasion, Transport and BC Welfare Minister Mr. Prabhakar, who is the son of late Ponnam Sattaiah Goud, said the agriculture category had been introduced this year following a suggestion by Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao to institute an award in the name of Ponnam Sattaiah, who came from an agriculture-based family.

Mr. Kodanda Reddy, Telangana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission chairman, was honoured for his long-standing struggle for farmers’ rights and his contribution to the agriculture sector, while Mr. Kondal Rao, chairman at Viswanadha Sahitya Peetam, was recognised for his extensive contribution to literature and Ms. Kanakavva for her contribution to folk arts.

Mr. Prabhakar said his parents, though not formally educated, had instilled in their children the importance of education, discipline, good values and social responsibility.

Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud lauded the Ponnam family for preserving the values of the joint family system. Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said a strong family system was the foundation of a strong society.

Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar said Mr. Prabhakar’s commitment to the welfare of BCs, SCs, STs and other weaker sections had earned him recognition across the State.

MLAs K. Satyanarayana and Medipally Satyam, Prof G. Haragopal, Prabhakar’s brother and journalist Ponnam Ravichandra, and others attended programme.
