Porsche Cayenne Electric launched in India at Rs 1.77 crore, Turbo at Rs 2.27 crore

Porsche has launched the electric Cayenne in India in two variants, with prices starting at Rs 1.77 crore (ex-showroom). The range includes the Cayenne Electric and the performance-focused Cayenne Turbo Electric, with customer deliveries beginning on September 30. Both versions use a 113kWh battery and dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup.Porsche Cayenne Electric: Price and variants

The Porsche Cayenne Electric is priced at Rs 1.77 crore, while the Cayenne Turbo Electric costs Rs 2.27 crore (ex-showroom). Porsche will continue selling petrol-powered versions of the Cayenne alongside the electric models.

The standard Cayenne Electric develops 408bhp, with Launch Control raising the output to 442bhp. It produces 835Nm of torque and can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 4.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 230kmph.

The Cayenne Turbo Electric takes the performance figures into a different bracket. It produces 1,156bhp and 1,150Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100kmph sprint in 2.5 seconds. The top speed is rated at 260kmph.

The electric Cayenne retains the overall proportions of the familiar SUV, but gets a revised front end designed around its electric powertrain. It features a closed-off grille area, active aerodynamic vents and Matrix LED headlights with Porsche's four-point daytime running light signature. The SUV measures 4,985mm in length, 1,980mm in width and 1,674mm in height, with a 3,023mm wheelbase. The electric version is slightly longer than the combustion-powered Cayenne.

Practicality has not been overlooked. There is a 90-litre front storage compartment, while the rear luggage area offers 781 litres. Folding the rear seats increases the available boot space to 1,588 litres. Depending on the equipment, the Cayenne Electric can tow up to 3,000kg, rising to 3,500kg with the Offroad Package.Cayenne Electric: Interior and features

The cabin gets Porsche's curved 14.5-inch central touchscreen along with a fully digital instrument cluster. Buyers can also specify a 14.9-inch display for the front passenger and an augmented-reality head-up display.

Standard equipment includes eight-way electrically adjustable front seats, with 18-way seats available as an upgrade, along with four-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, a sliding panoramic roof and 25W wireless smartphone charging.

The Cayenne Electric also comes with a range of driver assistance features, including ParkAssist with 2D Surround View, Lane Change Assist, Intersection Assist, Warn and Brake Assist, Swerve and Turn Assist, and Speed Limit Assist. Porsche's Comfort Access system uses ultra-wideband technology for keyless entry and locking, while the tailgate can also be operated using gestures.Cayenne Electric gets 642km range

Both Cayenne Electric variants use a 113kWh Performance Battery. The standard model has a claimed WLTP range of up to 642km, while the Turbo Electric can cover up to 623km on a full charge.

The SUV supports DC charging at up to 390kW. Porsche claims a 10-80 per cent charge can be completed in around 16 minutes under suitable conditions. The Cayenne can recover between 290km and 324km of range in 10 minutes, depending on the variant and charging conditions.

AC charging is supported at up to 22kW, with a full charge taking around 5.75 hours using a compatible charger. Porsche is also offering an optional 11kW wireless charging system in India, making the Cayenne Electric its first model in the country to get inductive charging.Cayenne Turbo Electric gets performance upgrades

The Turbo Electric gets a number of chassis and hardware upgrades to complement its higher output. These include adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and 21-inch Cayenne Turbo Aero wheels. Rear-wheel steering is available as an option.

The Turbo also gets larger performance brakes, with 10-piston front callipers and four-piston units at the rear. Porsche has equipped the SUV with active aerodynamic elements, including active Aeroblades, along with Porsche Electric Sport Sound.

The Sport Chrono Package adds a Push-to-Pass function that can temporarily provide additional power for overtaking, depending on battery charge and temperature.

The Cayenne Electric therefore combines the practicality of the existing SUV with Porsche's latest EV hardware, while the Turbo Electric adds supercar-like acceleration to the large luxury SUV.
