Prabowo Rides New LRT Line from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai - Tempo.co English

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto attended the inauguration of the newly operational Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) line connecting Kelapa Gading to Manggarai on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Ahead of the official ceremony, Prabowo took a test ride along the route from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai.

Dressed in a cream safari shirt, Prabowo arrived at Kelapa Gading LRT Station at approximately 12:57 p.m. A contingent of top officials accompanied the President on the journey from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai. Notable figures in attendance included Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo, Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Presidential Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman.

Spanning 12.2 kilometers, the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT line services 11 stations: Kelapa Gading, North Boulevard, South Boulevard, Pulomas, Equestrian, Velodrome, Rawamangun, Pramuka, Matraman, Proklamasi, and Manggarai.

The total travel time on the Jakarta LRT from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai takes an estimated 28 minutes. Construction of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT line was executed across two phases.

Under Phase 1A, which kicked off in 2016, LRT Jakarta initiated construction on the Kelapa Gading-Velodrome section. That 5.8-kilometer route featuring six stations became operational in 2019.

Subsequently, construction on Phase 1B along the Velodrome-Manggarai section began in 2023 and was inaugurated today. Covering 6.4 kilometers, this newest extension serves five stations.
