TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto arrived at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta on Monday evening, around 19:55 local time, to watch the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup final match between Indonesia and Thailand in person.

According to ANTARA, Prabowo arrived wearing a white jacket with "Indonesia" written on the back, accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. He arrived at SUGBK in a Maung tactical vehicle.

The President was welcomed upon arrival by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, who also serves as the PSSI Chairperson. The National Police Chief, General Suyudi Ario Seto, was also present to watch the match.

Earlier, Erick and FIFA President Gianni Infantino had already arrived at SUGBK to attend the event's closing ceremony. The final match between Indonesia and Thailand takes place at 20:00.

Earlier, Prabowo received Infantino and Erick Thohir at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday afternoon. The meeting was part of Infantino’s series of visits to Indonesia to attend the final and closing ceremony of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup.

On that occasion, Erick stated that Infantino had specifically invited Prabowo to watch the final match in person at SUGBK.

The 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup final pits Indonesia, the Group A winner, against Thailand, the Group B winner.

Indonesia secured a spot in the final after a resounding 9-2 victory over Bangladesh in their final Group A match. The result gave Indonesia a superior goal difference over Malaysia, securing the top spot in the group.

Meanwhile, Thailand had already secured a spot in the final after defeating Pakistan and Vietnam. Thailand subsequently lost 1–2 to the Philippines in their final Group B match but still advanced as group winners.

The match between Indonesia and Thailand serves as the final of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, marking the tournament's inaugural edition under FIFA.
