Pratikno Visits Palace as Prabowo Names Advisory Board
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate members of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) today, October 2, 2026. Among the figures widely slated to join the council is Pratikno, the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.
Based on Tempo’s observation on the ground, Pratikno arrived at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta at around 1:52 p.m. WIB. He is tipped to assume the post of Wantimpres chair. "I was invited today for the Wantimpres appointment," said the former State Secretary under President Joko Widodo on Friday afternoon.
However, Pratikno noted that he had not yet received a physical copy of the presidential decree regarding the advisory board appointments.
He stressed, "Any assignment carried out in the interest of the state and the public must be executed to the best of our ability."
Wantimpres is a government body tasked with offering counsel and recommendations to the head of state, as mandated by Article 16 of the 1945 Constitution. Placed directly beneath the President, the council answers straight to the chief executive.
The institution is charged with advising the President on matters regarding the exercise of executive power. This advisory role must be fulfilled by Wantimpres regardless of whether the President explicitly requests the input.
Aside from Pratikno, several other prominent figures seen arriving at the Presidential Palace include Dato' Sri Tahir, Jusuf Wanandi, Jusuf Hamka, Budi Gunawan, and Hatta Rajasa.
