About 150 kilometers southwest of Hami in Xinjiang's Gobi Desert lies Dahaidao, a 4,000-square-kilometer yardang cluster. It is the world's largest and most geologically mature yardang formation, and the only one on the Silk Road with discovered sites of human habitation.
