Pune techie dies after being hit by speeding car while out for morning run

A software engineer died in Pune after being hit by a speeding car while he was out for his morning run. The incident took place on Pashan-Bavdhan Road near Necklace Garden. The deceased has been identified as Virendra Dwivedi.

According to preliminary information, Dwivedi was running when he was hit by a four-wheeler bearing registration number MH 12 YS 0622. He was rushed to Chellaram Hospital in the same car that hit him. A similar road accident was reported in Delhi on August 10, 2026, when a Mercedes-Benz collided with a WagonR in the Narela area, killing a 70-year-old woman.

According to police, the impact pushed the WagonR backwards into a stationary three-wheeler loading van. The woman, identified as Urmila, was caught between the vehicles and died on the spot.

The accident took place at around 8 am in front of Himalayas Apartment. Police said the Mercedes was being driven by a young man identified as Shubham, who was detained at the spot immediately after the accident.
