Raiders lose top rookie starter to concussion vs Chargers - Raiders Wire

In the second quarter of the Raiders Week two game against the Chargers, Treydan Stukes made a tackle on special teams and left the game. Initial evaluations came up negative and he returned to the game for a drive and even make another tackle. But during half time, he apparently had further evaluations and soon was diagnosed with a concussion and was ruled out.

Coming in for him for the second half was veteran safety Isaiah Pola-Mao.

Stukes had won the team's starting safety job over Pola-Mao afer training camp. The rookie second round pick started and played every snap in the team's season opening win over the Miami Dolphins and record an interception in the game, making him the first Raiders rookie to do so in the his debut since 1982.

Luckily for the Raiders, it was an easy transition for Pola-Mao to step in. But there's a reason Stukes was named the starter because he was considered an upgrade at the position, so his loss is not insignificant.

Concussions can vary greatly so he will be monitored throughout the week to see if he can return for the Raiders Week three game in New Orleans.
