TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The competition schedule for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya has been significantly disrupted by recent rainfall ahead of the opening ceremony on Saturday, September 19, while the potential arrival of Typhoon Dujuan has raised concerns about outdoor events.

As reported by ANTARA, despite volunteers' strenuous efforts since Thursday morning, the women's cricket opener between Bangladesh and China on Thursday was called off due to overnight rain rendering the field at Korogi Athletic Park in Nisshin unplayable.

According to the rules, the higher-ranked team advances to the next round if the match is canceled due to weather. Thus, Bangladesh secured the next round due to Wet outdoor conditions.

"We knew it was going to be tough to get a game given the weather in the last week here and all the challenges there have been. We're grateful to the ground staff for trying their best. We're very disappointed. We were hoping the world could see the China women play for the first time in a big tournament. But we'll reset, and we'll try again," said China team coach Alan Newington.

Meanwhile, the rowing events, originally scheduled for Sunday (9/20), have also been moved to Monday (9/21) because heavy rain on September 8 forced the dismantling and reconfiguration of the docks at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course.

Typhoon Dujuan is expected to approach Japan during a five-day holiday period starting Saturday (9/19). The Japan Meteorological Agency stated on Wednesday (9/16) that the typhoon had developed off the Mariana Islands in the Pacific Ocean.
