A 5-foot-long snake gave staff at a resort in Rajasthan's Alwar quite the scare after it was spotted resting among the utensils in the kitchen late at night.

The snake was found at the Sariska Desi Dhani Resort on the Alwar-Jaipur Road. The moment the staff noticed the reptile, they rushed out of the kitchen and alerted a rescue team.

The rescuers soon arrived and identified the snake as a red snake, a non-venomous species. They caught it by hand and carefully removed it from the kitchen, much to the relief of the staff and onlookers, who applauded the rescue.

The team also explained that red snakes are not venomous and urged people not to panic if they encounter one.

The snake was later safely released into the forest. Snake sightings are common around Sariska, particularly during the rainy and winter seasons, with reptiles often emerging from their hiding places.

The Sariska region is home to a wide variety of snakes, including pythons and some endangered species. With several resorts and hotels located around the area, snakes entering properties are also frequently reported.- Ends
