Ramaphosa appoints Adrian Mopp as Western Cape DPP - EWN

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Advocate Adrian Mopp as the new Director of Public Prosecutions in the Western Cape.

Mopp's appointment comes during broader changes within the country's prosecution services.

Earlier this month, Advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara was appointed acting head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption following the resignation of Advocate Andrea Johnson.

The Presidency said Mopp brought more than three decades of legal and prosecutorial experience to the role, including over 23 years in the National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) Senior Management Service.

He has served as the Western Cape's Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions since 2009 and previously held senior positions in the Directorate of Special Operations and the Asset Forfeiture Unit.

The president said Mopp's extensive experience at both provincial and national level had equipped him to lead the NPA in the province and contribute to the delivery of independent, effective and efficient prosecution services.

Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said: "In considering Advocate Mopp for the position, the President took into account his extensive legal and prosecutorial experience spanning more than 30 years, including more than 23 years as a member of the NPA’s Senior Management Service."
