Ramayana: Rise of Legend has opened to an impressive response at the box office. While the film is designed as a big-screen spectacle, it will eventually make its way to OTT as well. The makers have, however, managed to keep details of its digital premiere under wraps so far. For those planning to skip the theatrical experience and wait for its OTT release, here's a little update.

Starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, the film will stream on JioHotstar, as shown during its opening credits. While the OTT premiere date is yet to be announced, the makers are expected to assess its box office performance over at least the next four weeks before bringing it to the small screen.

Ramayana is expected to gather further momentum at the ticket window, riding on positive word-of-mouth. The Nitesh Tiwari directorial opened at Rs 62 crore nett in India, registering the second-biggest opening for a Hindi film in 2026, behind only Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Including overseas collections, the film is expected to cross the Rs 100-crore gross mark worldwide on its opening day. The numbers are particularly encouraging given the considerable negative buzz surrounding the film on social media ahead of its release.

Ramayana: Part I also features Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. The second instalment, which will chronicle Rama's epic battle with Ravana, is slated for a Diwali 2028 theatrical release.

The film is produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus and Yash's Monster Mind Creations.- EndsRead more | Does Ramayana glorify Ravana? The uncomfortable question internet is asking
