Rams officially place Myles Garrett on IR: How long is he out for? - Rams Wire

The Los Angeles Rams have made an expected move official. On Thursday, they announced they have placed Myles Garrett on injured reserve. Garrett underwent knee surgery to repair the issue that plagued him throughout training camp and preseason practices.

Garrett will now be required to miss at least four games while on injured reserve, though the Rams can keep him on IR longer if needed. He will miss upcoming games against the Giants, Broncos, Eagles and Bills before potentially returning in Week 6 against the Cardinals.

Interestingly, the Rams did not sign anyone to the 53-man roster to take Garrett’s place, so they still have an open roster spot if needed.

The Rams acquired Garrett from the Browns for Jared Verse and three draft picks back in June. He missed most of training camp and practice leading up to Week 1, and while he was able to suit up in the opener against the 49ers, he will now miss at least four games.

Sean McVay opted not to put a firm timeline on Garrett's recovery when addressing the injury earlier this week.

“I don't really, yet," McVay said on Monday of whether he has a timeline. "I think it's all contingent upon how did things go today? You feel good about it, but I think it'd be unfair to him without having the totality of all the information to put any sort of timeline on it. We know that he'll be available in four weeks potentially and we'll take that a day at a time.”
