Ratchaburi Woman Makes Offering to Standing Buddha Holding Alms Bowl After Floodwaters Recede, Takes Lucky Numbers to Try Her Luck - Thairath English

A woman from Ratchaburi paid respects and made an offering to the "Standing Buddha Holding Alms Bowl" statue at Wat Klang Khlong Khoi after the Mae Klong River flood situation eased, and her home was spared from flooding. She also took ping-pong balls and firecracker numbers believed to be lucky for the 1 Nov 2026 lottery draw to try her luck.

On 31 Oct 2026, local residents in Khlong Khoi Subdistrict, Pho Tharam District, Ratchaburi Province, visited the 16-sok tall Standing Buddha Holding Alms Bowl statue inside Wat Klang Khlong Khoi. The statue was built in 1832 during King Rama III's reign by Somdet Phra Phutthachan (Toh Prommarangsi) when he was on a forest retreat at the temple. This has attracted people from both the local area and other provinces to come continuously to pay respects and pray for work, business, health, and luck.

Ms. Chotika Phumakko visited to burn incense and fulfill a vow after on 30 Sep 2026 the Mae Klong Dam released water into the Mae Klong River, causing overflow that flooded homes along the river and low-lying areas. She prayed to the Standing Buddha Holding Alms Bowl statue to prevent floodwaters from entering her home. The situation later improved as the dam gradually reduced water discharge.

Today, she returned to make her offering and ask for luck ahead of the 1 Nov lottery. She drew a ping-pong ball with the number 412 and observed firecracker tails with numbers 518 and 92, intending to use these numbers to try her luck according to belief.
