Sashikumar Sreedharan, managing director, Google Cloud (India), has said that the younger generation should develop the ability to look beyond the obvious business potential of a problem and recognise the possibilities it creates for people and society.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour at the 4th convocation ceremony of Digital University Kerala (DUK) on Thursday, Mr. Sreedharan added that products and services are evolving into experiences in a smart and increasingly digital world, while the boundaries between different sectors are increasingly blurring.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who serves as the Chancellor of the university, said that while colonial education was largely designed to produce people who would serve an existing system, new models of education should create individuals capable of leading change.

He also urged the graduates to move beyond the pursuit of employment and develop a broader sense of responsibility towards the nation.

The Governor presented degree certificates to students who successfully completed their Master’s programmes during the 2024-26 academic year, as well as to the first batch of PhD researchers of DUK.

Vice-Chancellor Saji Gopinath, registrar A. Mujeeb, dean (academics) R. Jaishanker, dean (research) Asharaf S, controller of examinations Alex P. James and other faculty members also participated in the programme.
